Brief history of Excel Driver Services
Excel Driver Services is a CDL training company with a long-standing commitment to safety, innovation, and industry leadership. We began in 1996 with a mission to train drivers of all skill levels to meet real-world industry demands. In 1998, we introduced virtual-reality simulation into our training to enhance student learning.
By 2001, we launched Excel Driver Services as a dedicated, FMCSA certified and ELDT provider. Since then, we’ve expanded our programs to support learners with both hands-on and online simulation training. Our focus on compliance and student success continues to drive our methods and results.
Our team has successfully trained more than 130,000 drivers since 2001. Over time, we’ve evolved from lecture-based programs to modern learning environments. As a result, students benefit from training that reflects today’s real-world driving challenges.
We integrate high-quality instruction across every division. This includes curriculum development, training equipment from Sim-Tech, and data-driven tracking through Drive Prodigy™. Together, these tools create a seamless experience for students and corporate partners alike.

The Excel Driver Services Divisions
Our experience training over 130,000 drivers since 1998 is a testament to our training programs. As an FMCSA certified ELDT provider, our training programs have grown from standard hands-on and lecture-based instruction to now include online and simulation training across all divisions. Our Sim-Tech Division manufactures driving simulators for the US Military, schools, and commercial customers. The once “lecture-only” classes we’ve offered since 2001 are now available as self-paced online courses.

As an FMCSA certified ELDT provider, all Excel Driver Services CDL Training Programs meet federal requirements and include in-depth Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) drive time, backing training, vehicle inspection, ELDT theory, logs, ELD use, mountain driving, weight stations, ports of entry, and more. For program accuracy, we employ industry-leading driving simulators provided by Simulation Technology and hands-on training data analysis tools powered by Drive Prodigy to enhance the student experience and deliver measurable results for our customers.

Drive Prodigy Analyzes self paced learning programs, Hands-on training and Simulation training scores on an intuitive dashboard to study your Areas of Improvement (AOIs) during training. While enrolled in training, track the progress of your classwork, review Hands-on training instructor comments, access self-paced learning materials, and enter a virtual reality training environment to train without consequences!
