Drivers seeking to obtain a School Bus (S) Endorsement on their Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) by completing a state-approved CDL skills test.
School Bus CDL Testing
Excel Driver Services’ School Bus CDL Testing prepares drivers for the official School Bus (S) Endorsement exam under FMCSA-certified third-party examiners. Conducted in compliance with state and federal regulations, the test ensures competency in operating school buses and other passenger transport vehicles for school districts. Drivers may test in an Excel Driver Services school bus or bring their own approved vehicle. The evaluation includes a pre-trip inspection for school bus safety, basic control skills for maneuvering in confined spaces, and an on-road driving test covering passenger safety, student loading/unloading procedures, defensive driving, and traffic law adherence.
Requirements for this Program
- Must have a valid CDL permit with a School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) Endorsement
- Must provide a valid DOT Medical Card
- Must be at least 18 years old (21 for interstate driving)
- Must schedule in advance for test availability
